Okay so first things first. My car is not some beast, but it is a faithful creature that has not failed me (yet). On the rare occasions that it would not work, it because I have neglected it in some way. One thing about my car is that I do not wash it. And so after a year, it looked like this:

Notably, I feel that there was no need to wash it, because a) I park the thing outside, so it will get dirty again real quick; and b) it is an old car, so its not like I’m trying to impress people with it. So slowly over the year of avoiding any car wash it turned from white to black.

Recently, I have managed to leave the house and met some new people. There was the chance of a date (however slim that actually may be) and a friend from interstate dropping by. I had to wash my car. Thankfully I could call upon my work buddy, Mark, to step in and give me a hand. And this picture is the end result.

I have finished booking my passage and stay in Japan. I will be headed there in less than a fortnight. I am kind of excited about this, but extremely nervous. I will be travelling across the country, going to Osaka, Nara, Fukuoka, Hiroshima and Tokyo. I’m really keeping a mental list of things I want to see and do, but the whole thing it still open ended.

Also over the week, I received a film SLR as a gift from another work chum, Jo. It was an Olympus OM10. It felt like a pretty solid camera, but Jo explained that the shutter might be sticking. I looked up instructions on the web and followed them and now all the camera does is beep at me.

*Sigh*

I was going to use this camera while in Japan, but now it really does not want to work anymore and the shutter has jammed open, making the think totally unusable. So now I feel like a complete dunce, that I broke something that seemed to work perfectly okay. I guess it will give me a chance to find a film SLR in Japan.

Another piece of news, due to a stuff-up in the payroll department, I now owe the tax people money. A decent sum of money. This also interferes with Japan trip.

So the week has been a bit of an up and down, but I’m still saddened about the camera.

Later this week I will be going to this Space Invaders. Elouise of Smells Like Zines will be down to take part in the zine fair and I’ll be there to help out. This is pretty much one of the last things I’ll be participating in before jetting off to Japan. So see me there and support the cottage industry that are zine.

Night

**Update** Won the same model on a bid on eBay. So I guess things might be looking up in the photography department.

Recently I saw the roller derby finals on Saturday night. Sadly around this time Adobe Photoshop stopped working for me. I currently own a subscription copy of Adobe CS4 Premium. And i pay a chunk of my wages for it.

So you would think that when I am a paying customer, I would receive the correct information.

Well, no. The serial key they provided me was bogus. So I have to wait another day for my software to possibly become useful again. (This is doubly frustrating because I was never given a serial key when i originally bought the box.

I have thought about using Gimp. But unfortunately Gimp on a Mac is clunky and never works well for me. I’m going to try out a work around tomorrow at work while I call a number that may help me or frustrate me further.

I can see that being a pirate, despite the risks, would feel so much sexier about now.

I have currently traded writing stories for looking at naked people tonight.

Later.

My holiday/vacation was fairly cool, where I got to catch up with family and friends and meet up about projects. There will be more details soon. But right now its late and I’ve had a full day with flights and trains and cars and beanbags and coffee and unpacking and writing the wrong words. Welcome to the Vagina Hours.

After a couple of weeks doing this in my spare time – I finally managed to get this thing running. First was finding a suitable theme. Then working out how the images loaded. Then figuring out the css of the theme, was really lazy, and then editing (read: hacking and slashing) the hell out of it to make it look the way I wanted. Then my isp won’t read the URL of the site or something. I accidentally wiped the database. Well it wasn’t an accident. It was totally deliberate, but I was nervous, and tired and maybe a little drunk. I hassled the hell out of my web service providers about why the hell I couldn’t see my own damn thing when the rest of the internet seemed to be fine…

Anyway, I’m back and I plan to do more blogging and more writing. Also for those who have been asking me: Yes, Magpie is nearly finished. I’m up to a critical moment and I want it to be right. It’s difficult. This site is nearly finished, there will be some tweaks and maybe some bugs that need to be fixed. Namely some of the posts I pulled from the blogger site, which may not appear totally correct. But they will be fixed in due course.

Enjoy and it’s good to be back.
Jack

Well it’s been a month since my last update and I needed to explain some things as for the lack of updates and what was happening in the background.

I have been looking for a new job, since the joy was completely sucked out by a series of vampires management hired to boost morale. Unfortunately, these so-called children of the night have fed of my colleagues, and me, to continue their own damned, undead existence. There have been some difficulties in removing the parasites from their jobs as they managed to keep the HR department in their constant thrall with the promise of immortality and eternal beauty.

I may be transferred within the company away from the vampires, but there is no promise of this. I was told that cultists keep management in fear of more impending economic and financial doom. This has resulted in several rounds of redundancies and wicker men being built. The cultists claim that such sacrifices will be a greater benefit to the company. I do not believe this to be true.

So as a side thing, I needed a distraction and right now I have a photographer that pursues me like a bloodhound for website work. It’s modest stuff, but it gives me extra cash. And I need it. I was hit hard on the maintenance side of things, with equipment giving up the very spirits that I spent enslaving to work for me. I saw ghosts leave my laptop battery and something I cannot name rapidly aged the power supply. It cost me some good livestock to replenish these items, because the shaman wouldn’t just accept mushrooms, or precious beads.

Likewise, I needed some new eyes. And this was difficult at best. Especially, after hunting down the right person who had the same colour (off-grey) and then the delicate operation of removing them. I could never find the right tool. Ice cream scoop – too big, melon baller – too small. I just could not win.

I also got really bored, lonely and sad.

So to distract me overcome my issues, I decided to take on other projects, where hopefully I meet new people and create something others may enjoy. If we are all lucky, updates will be posted in due course.

Lastly, I am still writing Magpie, in case anyone was hanging out for it. I want to finish this story right, so I am going to complete it, edit and arrange it in the right order and then post it on a weekly basis. Hopefully. I’ll ask a magic 8-Ball about this while incanting the right words to check my course.

Thanks for keeping a silent vigil however, the few of you there are left.

Aeaeae,

Jack
