Ink Remix

It’s near the end of my time off and I finally managed to check out Ink Remix. Featuring artists from Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China. I was expecting to see some calligraphy, which were the subject of video installations by Hung Keung and Pend Hung-Chih. Two pieces a really stood out for me. First was Yao Jui-Chung’s Yao’s Journey to Australia, a massive heptaptych made from handmade paper, biro and gold leaf. And then there’s Cindy Ng Sio Ieng, with No Limit a video installation of washes of ink suspended in a medium. I could probably have that one a constant loop playing in the background*. If you’re a local, it’s on at the Canberra Museum and Gallery until the October 18.

* for additional swirling joy, take a look at Thomas Blanchard’s The Colors of Feelings
