I returned to Tasmania to set a table at the Small Press Zine Fair, pitch some zines from the Canberra Zine Emporium (links here), catch up with a few friends and take a few snaps of architecture, graffiti and neo-topographies in general. I was a bit more focused on graf this time around, and taking better architecture shots considering I had a tilt-shift lens for this trip.
I decided not to go MONA this time around, the last two trips had felt that nothing much had changed in the gallery, so it was worth more to see other places. Unfortunately, the Colville Gallery was closed when I went to see it, not much had changed in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (specifically the Art Gallery section). The Youth Art Project, an alley behind the Centrepoint shopping centre, still serves as point for street artists and writers to put up their work, some sections are single pieces and others are resprayed mess, a strata of grime and paint.
The weather was warmer and brighter than I had anticipated. Good weather for some, but not necessarily for me. Overall the zine fair was fine, made a few sales, despite the anxious slow start that takes up every zine fair. An excursion into the Hobart Rivulet was canned because of some voices emanating from the darkness, and not being able to clearly define their intention.
Maybe next time I should take more time off and drive around a bit more.
